Here comes the Royal Wedding

prince-william-kate-middleton-caricatures new

It can be said that UK and the British Commonwealth countries have been throwing the biggest royal wedding ever. The marriage was announced months ago, when I was still in UK. And you can tell how that news drove Britons nuts. :)

What drew my attentions at that time (and till now) was the beauty and fashion taste of Princess-to-be Kate Middleton. She has a great vogue in UK and US due to her style and, at that time, was even compared to the First Lady, Michelle Obama. What she wears, from casual clothes to hats, from necklace to earrings, has come into vogue and driven women in both side of the Atlantic Ocean mad. Honestly, she’s kinda gorgeous and beautiful, a very British style’s beauty.

If you try to google with the key words: “royal wedding”, there’s been more than 1.02 billion results (at the time of this post first composed). “All over the world are watching us, mate” :)

Frankly, Britain goes a wedding-party crazy. Let’s see what’s up on these days…

Think it’s a mob? Think twice. There are swarms like this in all over the UK and Commonwealth. (All the pictures shown above were used from The Mirror’s articles, www.mirror.co.uk)

Here’s the fact: 2 billion of people are estimated to watch the live Royal nuptial vow on 29 April 2011 not including internet livestream websites yet, means that nearly 1/3 (really, one third?) world population now. If compared to Royal wed between Prince Charles and Lady Diana in 1981, nearly 750 million were estimated to watch it on TV, while the world population at that time was 4.529 billion (Source: Infoplease). Such a big difference. Lol… (Yet, I have to count for the widespread popularity of TV nowadays, not like in 30 years ago) =)) :)) :))

And then, caricatures have their say. :)

At work now

Since the Tet Holiday till now, I’ve seldom logged in this blog. What a shame, huh? :-S Many reasons could be set out such as job-seeking, fund-fighting (for WTH? :P), hanging out etc. Once again, I have to admit that I’m such a lazy guy who ends up snubbing this blog (I forgot to mention another reason for that, it’s another newborn blog :D).

At the moment, everything’ seems to be good to me so I think I’m about to blog more then. (Actually I’m at work now, while other co-workers of mine are taking a quick nap, I’m blogging, hehe, cause today I can’t find a place to snatch some sleep).

My books bought in UK were shipped back home just a few weeks ago. You’d imagine how happy I was. OMG, my precious, my treasure, my fortune which I’d amassed in the days studying in Manchester is home now. :X Opening each book, sniffing their smell, touching the pages tenderly almost blew my mind. I could tell how keen my sister and honey are when they saw those books. In my home country, it’s quite hard to buy foreign books due to the high prices and unavailability (there are not foreign publishing house there). That’s why I had splashed out on books although I wasn’t well off at that time. Delivery is another thing to consider cause the shipping cost is not cheap, but I’m happy to pay for that because I can bring home more than that money spent. :)

Happy The Year of The Cat

funny-pictures-cat This year I’ve been celebrating the Tết Nguyên Đán (Lunar New Year) with my family. Nothing can be better than that. I love the time of enjoying the transition of the passed year and coming year with my beloved. And I miss my time in Manchester with my dearest friends now and then. Miss you all, my friends. :X

Among the happiest and most cheerful songs about New Year celebration (in either Vietnamese or any other languages), there’s no song like Happy New Year. This is the most beautiful and joyful song to me. Whenever I heard this song, the very best memories of happiness and wishes for the coming year came to my mind. ABBA composed and sang this song even when I wasn’t born. However, this one is one of the songs which are never getting old. Because the new year is always young and beautiful. :X

What About Now – Daughtry

Today is not a busy working day for me, ’cause there are less people coming to the Committee Office to do their adminsitrative matters. Thus, I feel so free in my mind, and then playing guitar is not a bad choice (the other previous days, books are more convenient to enjoy in the meantime of working with photocopier and computer, hehe). I love this song so much, and the video clips either.

Riding a cycle is not a bad idea

I came to this article with a fancy since I’m a bicycle-loving person. The author wrote about his experience in riding a bicycle in HCMC where motorbike is the King of vehicles such as cars, cabbies, buses, lorries etc.

Indeed, what he went through as told in the article are true if concerning the viewpoint of Saigonese (in particular) or Vietnamese (in general) on the matter of bicycles. Especially, this point: “…many Vietnamese conceive bicyles as the means of tranport only for the poor…” or “(by) riding a bicycle, you can turn many people’s heads and attract more attention from others around than if you ride expensive, well-known motorbike brands like Dylan or SH.”

Besides, he was refused when trying to get into cafes in the city (maybe in downtown) since he rode a bicycle or there was no parking slot for bicycles (?); whereas always “welcomed” (as his used words) to local beer-serving restaurants.

It is sad but true that HCMC is not a city for bicycles because of many difficulties in seeking spare space for cycle-lovers in the bustle floods of motorcycles. Yet, to me, although motorbikes are very useful in reaching destinations quicklier, thus they can save our time in moving around the city, I still love bicycles and always wish that there will be more bicycles but much less motorbikes. This will not only help our body fit but help our environment.

Hey, let’s go for a ride on cycles this weekend with me, buddy! ;)
